Well, this is my favorite time of the year. I'm always look forward to Christmas time. I'm one of those people who plays Christmas Music the day after Halloween, until a couple days after Christmas. I like to get my shopping done early so I can spend the rest of my time baking and going to all the things my kids are involved in.
Tonight, I went and watched Nikkelle sing in her Choir group. I really enjoy listening to them around the Holiday. Kaitlyn has a Choir Concert on the 16th, she is really excited about it, this will be her first year. Nikkelle has lots of dances this month with Basketball half-time. She also has two competitions in December. The Drill team are making blankets on the 13th, in between their dances to take to the Christmas Box House next week. That will be a fun experience for them. We have the ward Christmas party on the 17th. Then its time for my family Christmas party on the 20th, so we will be heading to that on the 19th. This month is going by so fast, it will all be over before we know it.
We are so grateful for everything we have. Lets remember the season of giving, the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. I hope you have a wonderful Hoilday Season and take the time to relax and enjoy the people you love.

Carving Pumpkins
![]() |
| Make a Smilebox scrapbook |
This turned out a lot better then I thought it would. Nikkelle found a dancer on the Internet so that is what she carved on her pumpkin. (image that) Ryder found a haunted house. Kaitlyn found a skull. Kinyon just wanted to make a scary face. Cheyenne's attention span only lasted on the cleaning out the pumpkin. Then she said mom "you can carve my pumpkin." So I just did a simple face, I wasn't sure who I was going to end up helping. They all did them themselves except Kaitlyn had a couple of really small areas to get out so I helped her with that. I think they all turned out really well. Porter didn't want to carve one. It was fun I think we will do it again next year.

Homecoming Parade

Well since Nikkelle is on the drill team, she got to be in the homecoming parade. I was really surprised how many people actually came out to this. All the girls were suppose to bring a bag of candy. By the time they got to us all the candy was gone.

Porter's Steer Ride at the Fair
Sorry this has taken so long, but there is just not enough time in one day to get everything done that needs to get done. I don't know about all of you, but this time of year gets to be so busy with all the canning, homework, laundry, and running kids to all their things they have going. At the end of the video Porter starts limping. Come to find out the steer had stepped on his back. He had a pretty good bruise from the experience. Shane took Porter to the State Fair and he rode the mechanical bull about 3-4 times before the guy told him to come back and he would teach him how to ride. So maybe next year he will have a better luck.

Our 4th of July Celebration!
Our morning started out early in the morning. Kaitlyn had to sing at the city's celebration at 9:30. Shane, Kaitlyn, Cheyenne, and myself went over about 8:15 to eat breakfast. The boys were at Nanny and Poppy's house because they had to move pipe. They came up to watch Kaitlyn. The boys and Poppy played a little baseball while we were there. Then we came home and did some jobs around the house. Shane's friend had 4 tickets to the Oakley Rodeo, so Shane took the boys to that. Nikkelle was at Stadium of Fire. The girls and I went with Nanny, Poppy, and Travis to Sizzler to eat dinner. When we got home the girls got to do sparklers, feed the lambs, then watch the city's Firework display. We can see them from our backyard so we just hang out here and watch in our swing. It was a crazy 4th of July for our family this year.. We were all in different places, but I think everyone still had fun.

A surprise visit from Family!
On Friday June 27th Nikkelle and I was out walking selling her drill team calendars. She kept getting phone calls, I thought she was talking to her friend Kylie. Come to find out Chandra was calling her to let her know that she was coming to visit with the kids and surprise me. I got part of the conversation "okay I'll see you when you get here," but I just thought it was Kylie because she had been out of town all week. So when we get home Nikkelle and I went downstairs to watch part of movie, to relax from the heat. So Chandra called me and I ask her what she was doing? She said "she was going to town to buy diapers." We talked on the phone for a little bit then it was just quite for a little bit. Then I could see something out the corner of my eye. So I turned to look and they were poking their heads around the corner downstairs. I was surprised they were here. Chandra and I was still on the phone, I looked at her, looked at my phone and hung up. Hiding in the corner. It was a little squishy back there.
Shane had taken all the other kids out to Vernon to our cabin. So Chandras kids hung out here a couple of days before my kids got here. Then we surprised them. Here is their reaction, I think they were surprised even Kaitlyn but she was sad because her dad had gotten after her.
Just another picture before the kids got home.
Here is the picture I got of the kids about the time they jumped up and said SURPRISE!
I think Kinyon and Cheyenne was really surprised. They ran right over to great them. Kaitlyn was still upset.

Baseball season comes to a end.
Well Baseball has finally came to a end. The boys had a fun year. Ryder's team took second place they did a awesome job. They played the 1st place team the last two games and won both games. That was really exciting for the boys and the parents. Kinyons team did a great job too. They came in 4th place. This was his first year playing on WBBA its a pretty big step up from machine pitch. He learned a lot and both want to try out for the fall team. I have to finish the All-Stars next week. There will be 3 games and then I will be done with concessions stand. Boy am I excited for that. Now hopefully I can catch up in my garden at nights instead.

Finally Time for Kaitlyn and Kinyon's Birthday Party
Life has been crazy around here. Mom has realized, if she don't call me by 7AM then she probably won't get a hold of me the rest of the day. We are all staying very busy, the boys have been spending a lot of time at Nanny's and Poppy's doing jobs for them. Ryder and Kinyon move handlines and do other jobs they are asked to do. Then we have baseball everyday with a least one of them. Porter has been a big help to Poppy this year, and is enjoying making money and saving for things he wants to buy. Nikkelle is staying busy too. She has drill practice at 6AM to 10AM, then she goes to practice for the Stadium of Fire 10:30-12:30. She is so tired and hungry by the time she is done. She will usually have a little nap before she goes to work from 4:00-9:15. Kaitlyn has choir practice, and is learning to play piano. She loves spending time with her lamb. She is also going to learn to play tennis in July. Cheyenne is going to Pre-Kindergarten and is loving it. She is so excited to actually start Kindergarten and ride the bus with the other kids. Shane has been out of town most of this month. I'm still working at the baseball park every night from 4:30-9. So we have had a hard time finding time for everyone to get together for the Twins birthday party. Well it just happened the only time we could do this party was at 9AM on Saturday. It worked out but seemed weird to have it that early. Happy Birthday Kaitlyn and Kinyon!

What NOT to do when you chase lambs.
So a couple of weekends ago when Shane brought the lambs home, I had Chandra kids here. So we had 10 kids, I mean 9 kids Nikki didn't want to be a part of this. Outside watching and wanting to help and be a part of unloading the lambs. We did pretty good until the last 2. We caught one of them then the other one heading on down the road. I told Ryder to get on his bike so he could catch up to it and chase it back our way. Well that went pretty good and lamb started run back to where it was suppose to go. Kinyon and Stattyn where back by the gate holding it open for the lamb and making sure the other lambs didn't get out. Well when the lamb almost got to the gate the other lambs started running for the gate so the boys closed it. So the lamb turned and was going to run away again. I was right behind him so I reached out to grab him, but he got away from me then Porter was behind me and he caught him. So after we put him in the gate my picky was all tingly on the left side so I went to look at it to see what was wrong. Boy was I shocked to see my pinky! I said "WHATS WRONG WITH MY PINKY!" I never felt anything but the tingly feeling after we were done chasing that wonderful lamb. So now every time I go to chase a lamb now Shane says " Shalaine don't you chase them I don't want you to hurt yourself again." He is so kind and thoughtful, but sometimes I can't help it if I'm there and the kids need help, I help. So hopefully nothing like this will happen again. So I guess I have a inherited finger from my Dad. I hope you get a good kick out of it because I still think it is funny!!! I do wish I had my old pinky back but I'm getting used to it now.

The Spring Lamb Show
The kids have to show the lambs in the spring show, in order to sell them at the fair. This year was a little more hectic then before. We have shown 3 lambs for a few years now. This year we had to show 6 lambs. So that means 3 more lambs that need sheered and cared for. It took Shane a few extra nights to get them all done. He does a good job though. Feeding is a little more complicated then the other years. We have decide to feed each lamb individually, as of before we just feed them all together. So depending on how much they weigh depends on how much they get feed. We have a couple of smaller ones, we are having to push them to get them to make weight by fair time. So this year at the Spring Show we were so excited for Nikkelle because she got Reserved Showmanship. We were all surprised because she basically hates doing this. But I guess she really knows how to act like she is really interested in what she is doing. Good Job Nikki. Kaitlyn did a really awesome job too being her first year. Her lamb was not cooperating it kept jumping up on her. Which is weird because she is always out in the pen, petting her lamb and trying to make her be friendly. She made it in the top 10 for Showmanship out of about 30-40 kids showing lambs in her age group. We are so proud of her, keep up the good work and maybe you will win at the fair show. Here are some pictures of the show and just pictures of the lambs and kids. I never got a picture of Kinyon , I will have to take a picture of him helping feed the lambs.

Well Here Are Somethings We Have Been Up To
My life has been really crazy this last month. I don't have much time to do much of anything. I got a job at the Middle School taking lunch numbers as the kids come out of the lunch room, then I wash the tables off between each grade. I get the kids on the bus by 8:30 then I'm off to get myself and Cheyenne ready to take her out to Nanny's house. I leave my house 9:45 then I have to be back into town by 10:15 to start work. I'm finished by 12:30, so depending on what Nanny's is doing I either go pick up Cheyenne or she brings her home. I'm home for about 31/2 hrs. My second job is at the baseball park concessions it starts at 4:30 and I get home around 9. We have about 45min, from the time the kids get home to get homework done and chores done if we are lucky. Ryder and Kinyon are playing baseball. So someone usually has a game while I'm at the park working. I still get to see them play some of their games so it all works out. By the time I get home I have to get kids ready for bed, that can take a good Hour on good day. Then I usually do a couple loads of laundry, then I'm off to bed.
For the last Month and Half Nikkelle has had some kind of Dance Competition. Between her doing Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, and Clogging. The last ones have been at Lagoon where Kaitlyn and Cheyenne also had to compete. I told them they couldn't go on rides the first weekend we was there because we were going back for Nationals. So we went on some rides the next time. Chandra and Miles came up with their kids because Shay had to Dance too. Treg and Tricia were there too with Maddison and Brooklynn. They all did a great job on their dances. It was a long day but we finally got to start riding rides at 4:30. I will post pictures later because Chandra has all the pictures.
Shane has my camera with him, Ryder drew out on a bear tag. Shane, Ryder, and Porter and a bunch of other guys and their hound dogs have been bear hunting the last couple of weekends and will be back sometime by June 1. Shane is picking up the six lambs for the kids for 4-h this year. Then we will be busy we that are first show is June 7, so not much time to get ready this year but that is how it worked out so we will make the best of it.
I don't know when I will have time to write again but hopefully sooner then later now that school will be out.

Happy Mother's Day
On Sunday morning, the kids got up and made puff pancakes for breakfast. Then they got the dishes done, it was great. Then later, Shane and the kids gave me a new steam mop that I have been wanting. Hopefully mopping will be easier and funnier. Then while I was getting ready for church the kids made this big poster for me. They really can be great kids when they want to be. At Church we got a pamphlet about mothers by Boyd K Packer. I haven't read it yet but I'm sure it will be good. After church we went out to Nanny's to have a nice dinner. Bamma was their it was fun spending the day with her. We treasure any time we get with her as she will be turning 91 this year. I had a great Mother's Day and I hope all of you did too.

Nikkelle is offically a Troyette!
Nikkelle was debating if she should try out for drill team or not. She wasn't sure if she wanted her whole life to revolve around drill team. She has been working really hard the last three years to get to this decision. Then once she was here she wasn't quite sure. Well she decide she would do it this year and maybe next year. But not her senior year she wants to be able to have fun, and do Cosmetology School. She had drill clinic for a week she dance 2:30- 5:30 every night except Thursday night she had figured she had danced 7 hours. She was extremely tired, so I let her sleep in and miss Seminary. Friday was try-outs, we were there for 3 1/2 hours. It was long and made everyone have butterflies. It was very exciting when they handed out the letters. They couldn't open them until everyone had theirs. Nikki opened hers and it said she had made the team. It was also a hard time, because some of Nikki's friends and girls she dances with didn't make the team. Nikki was sad for them. Later that night about 11:40 her coach and the Senior girls from this year come around and kidnap the girls. They have a party and play games on getting to know each other. She didn't get home until 3 am. Again, another late night for Nikkelle. But she has the weekend to get caught back up on her sleep. Congratulations Nikkelle!!!! We are so proud of you. Keep up the dedication and you will be able to do whatever you want to do.

What Is This World Coming To!!!
So everyone keeps telling me I need to update my blog. Since these are the only things that have happened here, here it goes. I work at the Middle School, during lunch taking students numbers, entering them into the computer and cleaning up after those messy kids. Well on Monday we got told the schools where on lock down. Nothing like this has every happened where we live, so we were a little freaked out. So they tell us this guy is on his way to the school to hurt people. He said "that someone here offended his gang". So I automatically call the High School and pull Nikki out of school, thinking that is probably were he was headed. I had my father in-law go pick her up, since he was in town. I wasn't about to leave her in that school. The 5th grade kids were freaked out, we were trying to keep them calm by telling them everything was going to be okay. In the mean time, my co-workers and I are worried about our students in the other schools. By the time we were finished with lunch, they said it was over. So how did this all happen. This guys roommate called the police where he lived. He told them his roommates plan. They then called our police who informed the schools. This roommate saved a lot of lives and I'm so grateful for him. The police pulled him over about 10 minutes from the schools. He had 10 loaded weapons and 25 more rounds of ammunition. I've heard they had 15 cops surrounding him with all their weapons pulled. I am so thankful that is where it ended. This roommate is a hero in my eyes.
Then you wouldn't believe it. Tuesday there is another lock down at the schools. I was home by the time this one happened. Come to find out the Bank had been robbed which has never happened here either. So they locked the schools to keep everyone their safe. The guy did get away but nobody got hurt. Hopefully we don't see this kind of stuff happen ever again. It just lets you realize things can happen anywhere, anytime.

No Pictures this Week!!!
Since we haven't done anything to exciting this week, besides trying to clean up the backyard to get ready for the kids 4-H lambs. We will have six lambs this year. I didn't go out and take any picture it was to cold. So I stayed in the house and got work done inside.
So instead here are a couple of videos off YouTube that we have found. The kids like watching Charlie Bit My Finger, and the other one applies to all mothers out there.

Easter Candy Hunt At Grandma & Grandpa's
Last weekend we went up for Dratin's Farewell, and so while we were there we did the candy hunt a week early. We didn't want to have to go back up, because of gas prices. The kids really enjoy looking for candy in the grass, trees, anywhere high, low, wherever the grown ups throw it or stick it. We had a lot of fun visiting family. They are already asking when we can go back, so hopefully summer gets here soon. I hope all of you had a Happy Easter.

A Fun Day With My Sisters!!!
I got a phone call about 6:30 am from my sister Shantelle. She was making sure I didn't have to work, and to let me know that her and Chandra were coming to visit, so I didn't go to work if I got called in. So we met and spent the day shopping, buying stuff for Shantelle's business, going out to lunch, laughing and just having fun being together. We thought we should do this like every three months, but without the 4 little ones next time. It is always fun to get together and talk about our lives growing up we can always find something new to laugh about everytime we get together. We can't wait to come see you next weekend the kids are so excited to come see all their counsins. Take care We Love You All Shalaine

We've been Tagged!!!
1. Each player answers the questions about themselves somewhere on their blog.
2. At the end of the post, the player then tags 3 people and post their name, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment to let them know they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

You Never Know What To Expect From Kids
So this morning Kinyon comes up to room about 3:00am. He was rolled in a ball and said his right side hurt. So we went to check the internet about appendicitis. It doesn't say a whole lot, other then hurts on right side. Sometimes starts in middle, then moves to right side. Hurts when you walk around. May or may not have fever. So we had him get up and walk around to see if it hurts. Well he is making all these moaning sounds and keeps closing his eyes like he was in alot of pain. So we are think, ok maybe we had better take him to make sure it is not his appendix. So we get there and the doctor comes in to check him. He says well get a x-ray and draw some blood to check his white blood count. So we go down to get x-rays. When we get back Kinyon says I need to go to the bathroom. Shane said #1 or #2, Kinyon says #1. So I take him to find a bathroom. Next thing I know Kinyon opens the door and said "Mom I just pooped my pants." Im thinking nice we don't have any clean clothes. So I find a bag and told Kinyon to put his underwear in here. We get back to the room and they were waiting for Kinyon to get back to draw blood. Then they said that it will take about 1hr for the results. So we are waiting and they gave Kinyon the remote to watch TV. Well he ends up pushing the button that pages your nurse. Shane and I are sitting there thinking great!!! We got the button taken care of and explained what all the bottons do. Well the Dr. finally came back and says well in the X-rays it looks like he has alot of gas and his blood count was normal. So everthing turned out to be fine with Kinyon. Now Shane and I are stuck with a $300-$500 bill for Kinyon to use the ER Bathroom. I sure hope his stomach starts to fill better.

A Day on the Beach!!!
Sunday Feb. 17th we took the kids down to play on the beach. It was the warmest day since we had been there about 79 degrees. They walk along the coast on the rocks at first, but it didn't take long and they headed for the water. They would only go out up to about their thighs then wait for a wave by then it was up to their waist. They had a lot of fun trying to jump over the waves. Then they started to find sea shells. They are kind of tricky to get when they are washed up on the shore, because there is always another wave to wash it back into the ocean. When they were done playing in the water and making sand castle. We got out the kites we bought at a Wal-mart. We had bought 2 kites that were about $2, one for $3, one for $5, one for $10. Well Shane got the cheap kites going first with no problem. Then we got the $10 kite out and you would never believe this. We couldn't get the kite to fly. Shane and his Dad worked with it for a while. They ended up tying a stick to the end of the streamers. We finally got it up after about 45 min. but it still was a harder kite to keep up. After the girls where done flying kites, they went and burried Cheyenne's full body only her head was poking out. When she got up she had sand in her ears, and hair. Then she told Nanny she had a sand bum. She didn't like that. Next came Kaitlyn, she was covered in sand also. Then it was time to go home shower and get ready to go to Disneyland.

Three Days at Disneyland
Saturday was the first day we went to Disneyland. It was very crowded because it was a three day weekend with Presidents Day on Monday. Not such a fun day.
Then on Sunday we went back about 6:30 to go to the Electrical Parade at 8:30 at California Adventure. Then we ran over to Disneyland to catch the Firework Show at 9:45. We decide to stay and ride some rides until the park closed at 1:00 am. Amazingly we got on 7 rides from 10:30pm-12:45am. We had to run out of the park to catch the tram to take us to our cars. They quit running at 1:00am. Of course we had to make a bathroom stop for Kaitlyn & Nanny. Then we are almost out the gate and Cheyenne says I need to go potty. So I told them to go on and I ran Cheyenne over to the bathroom. But we made it just as they were loading the last tram. Phew what a crazy night. I couldn't wait to see our room.
Then we went back on Tuesday hoping it wouldn't be busy since all the local kids and people would be back at work and school. It turned out to be a pretty fun day. Most of the ride were no longer then 20 min. wait. That was good compared 55-90 min. on Saturday. We got to ride on all the rides that we wanted some twice. Then headed over to California Adventure. They have this huge roller coaster called California Screamer. Nikki, Porter, Ryder, Kaitlyn, and I went on this one. I was a little nervous and you have to go upside down. But when i got to that part i just closed my eyes and everything was all right. Then we went to talk Nanny and Poppy into going, Nanny loves roller coasters too but did not want to go upside either. So I told her my strategy. She then agreed to go on it. Both Poppy and Nanny loved it. Then after the kids with some other rides we had to get back over to Disneyland for our Dinner reservations at 6:30 at New Orleans Cafe. Then we went on Pirates of the Caribean again because Shane and I didn't get to go with the rest of the gang when they went earlier because I left my camera on the Indiain Jones. So we went back to get it while they went on Pirates. After Pirates we got on are usually train to get over to the other side of the pack to ride Space Mountain for the last time. Shane got off in Toontown and took Kaitlyn and Kinyon on Mr. Toads Wild Ride in Fantsyland. Then met us over by Space Mountain. That was the last ride at Disneyland, we can't wait to go back.

Our Trip to Sea World
On Friday Feb. 15, 2008 we spent the day at Sea World. We hit all the shows first thing so we could spend the rest of the day just walking around and looking at stuff. The first show was the dolphin show it was the best of all the shows. My kids decided to sit in the soaked zone, and boy did I get soaked. I should have taken a picture. We have it on video though. It was alot of fun and would do it again getting to see them up so close. Then we went to the seal show, we decide not to sit in the wet zone, we needed to dry off. Cheyenne was shriving so we took off her shirt and Chad gave her his jacket to wear. Then it was off to the Shamu show. We liked that show too, but everyone loved the dolphin show the best. The kids got to feed the dolphins for $5 per kid they each got 6 tiny little fish to feed them. They also got to touch the rays, they feel so cool. Then we just walked around and shopped for souvenirs.

Playing in the Winter Snow!!
Braxlyn and Taesyn waiting their turn to go down the hill in the sled
Snowboarding just comes natural with Kinyon. He makes everything look so simple.
Ryder did really good hanging out with us on this little hill while all of us beginners was try out the really small hill.
Kaitlyn's first time trying to snowboard. She was hoping her tongue would help her get to the bottom of the hill.
Porter was trying to make a jump. He would have rather been at the ski resort. So he was trying to make the best of Nanny's and Poppy's driveway.
Chandra and I trying to get brave enough to give snowboarding our first try. Hummm i wonder who went first.
Chandra made it further then me so she won. But it sure was fun and we had a great laugh. Someday we will be better at it.
Chandra after she made it as far as she could go. She had a sudden out burst of laughter that was very uncontrollable. That was alot of fun.
